Any Good Books

I have taken up the art of reading once again, and have found a couple of books that I really enjoyed and thought I would recommend:

Mistaken Identity is the true story of 7 people involved in a fatal accident- 5 of them were killed. The book is about one family who thought their daughter had survived and were with her every day in the hospital for 6 weeks when they realized that they were not caring for their daughter- their daughter had been mistakenly buried as somebody else's daugher, whose family then found out their daughter was, in fact, alive.

Why is this story so great? It is a pure testimony of both families faith in God- through all of their trials, the overriding theme is "God is with us- He sustained us." When I finished the book, I wanted to be a better person and dedicate my life to Christ and serving Him as my testimony of Christ grew- what could be better than that in a book?

Twilight is a new rave in the county, and, yes, I too joined the band wagon. I am not a huge adamant fan, but it was a fun and quick read. I would recommend it!

If any of you have any recommendations, let us all know!

  1. Now that you've read Twilight, you need to read New Moon and Eclipse so you can be ready for Breaking Dawn when it comes out in August :)

  2. I did read the entire series, and I am curious about her new book that just came out- did anybody read the one that was written for adults and just came out? I forget what it is called.

  3. It's called The Host. I haven't read it yet, but I have it on hold at the library. Who knows when I'll actually get it and be able to read it. Some internet friends of mine have read it, though, and they love it to pieces. Even though I haven't read it yet, I feel like I can recommend it.

  4. Twilight, huh? I've heard a lot about the series, but mixed reviews so I'm not too into it. I've gotten hooked on Bill Bryson since Lincoln City and Dave and Ken talking about it. Currently I am reading "A Small History of Nearly Everything" and "I am a Stranger here Myself" by him. I would recommend the first as a learning book that is quite interesting, but long and the second is REALLY good and extrememly funny. A quick read too. I also just read "Bryson's Dictionary of Troublesome Words" and liked that. I am also reading "Losing It: An LDS Guide to Healthy Living" which is just a fun book of information which I already know, but was on sale for $5 at the store and I am enjoying reading it. Lately I've been reading a lot (that's what happens when nursing a newborn for me) so I'll give you more recommendations when I finish and then start some more books.

  5. Yah, Chris, I stole your map. I figured it might be a good idea to see where people are who are viewing the blog. That plus the vier counter is sort of my way of keeping an eye on things (probably not 100% effective, but...). I don't want to have to password protect the blog because I created it for people like Jason's family to stay updated on Nathan and they won't make the effort if it is *hard*. I sort of figure at least half the blog stories out there are urban legend, we're not THAT exciting, and since there are a bazillion Andersons out there, I feel fairly anonymous/ubiquitous/decently hard to find.

  6. Steph - two more Bryson books you should read are: The Mother Tongue & A Walk in the Woods. The first is a study of the English language and is really interesting. One of my favorite chapters is not one for everyone, it is on swear words. Why do we consider them bad, and how did they get picked to be the BAD words. Very fun reading if you realize it is a study of offensive words, not an attempt to be offensive... The other one is his travelogue of walking the Appalachian Trail with a buddy of his. Pretty funny.

I don't know anything about Twilight or the other books listed, but I am always looking for something good to read.

  7. So this map thing is leading me to wonder who I know in Stockton, CA and Medford, OR. There is someone in Stockton who seems to be looking at the blog every day...curious. I may have to create a blog post asking who this person is. This map thing is illuminating if nothing else. Jason (opposite from Ben) keeps telling me not to worry about it.

I've heard about these twilight books, I guess I should check them out.
