Loving LOST!

Can I just say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED LOST!!!!!
-
But, like most of Lost, I am left wondering, "what just happened?"
-
As far as Ben and I have been able to figure out, we believe everything that happened on the island actually happened. But, everything that happened in the "other life" of the plane not crashing, happened when they all died- whenever it is they all died. I have to assume that Jack died that day (did he turn into the smoke monster? I am pretty sure I saw smoke coming up out of the water after Jack saved the island and was still in the pit), and that Hurley lived on for awhile longer- with Ben- on the island, and that Kate, Sawyer, Frank, and the others made it back to the real world for a time, and then when they died went back in time to fulfill the "parallel world" plot.
-
I still can not make sense of the nucleur blast. I am certain it worked, but it apparently left the island still standing?
-
At the beginning of the season, the island was under water. Perhaps this was hundreds of years later, when Hurley stopped protecting the island?
-
Once again, I am confused. Nevertheless, I LOVED IT!!!! And I am soooooooooooooooooooooo glad Sawyer and Juliette are back together- they were my favorite couple (I hated Kate- wish she had died earlier).

Thoughts??????

  1. Well, I think the island was underwater in the alternate world, so the nuclear bomb did not really work--it just made the island start moving around in time?? Now that I"m writing this, I think I may have everything screwed up. Also, I think Jack just died. I don't think he's the smoke monster. I liked it too--everyone doing their own thing in the real world, people dying, etc. but a great big reunion after they all died.

  2. Ok, this is what I got. The losties created the sideways world to meet before they moved on. It was hollow until they finished their learning experience on the Island. Then after they learnded their lessons, they were ready to have enlightenment in sideways world and move on. Hurly was leader with Ben as second and I think that Ben has been given the Island protector roll next so he chooses not to go into "heaven" the church at the end. He may also be waiting for Alex and Rousseau (sp) and for his redemption process to be completed. I am not bothered that all the questions were not answered. I find I have better answers in my head. I loved all the religions represented at the end and the concept that all of the major ones value, faith, courage, love, sacrifice and trust and redemption. I love all the book references involved and the literary easter eggs in each episode. This show is on so many levels. I feel that this show is art in the sense that you bring to a painting, movie, music your own experiences, philosophies and faith. Art means something different to each of us. And what we take away from lost is largely what we bring to it. Anyway. I cried at the Charlie Claire reunion and my favorite character is Ben. He is amazing! One of the writers of Lost tweeted this yesterday. Lindenhof said "Remember, let go, move on. "That is what I am trying to do as I try to process what I experienced with the show. Very fun!

  3. My favorite lost columnist at Entertainment Weekly named Jeff Jensen wrote this and I agree... Sideways word is wasn't an alternate reality at all but a psycho-spiritual virtual reality, a vast active living intelligence system (to borrow a phrase from Philip K. Dick's VALIS) created by the collective yearning of the castaways, an ethereal transfer station located at an unspecified junction between life and afterlife.

  4. I am liking everybody's thoughts. I am still going over it all in my mind. Here is a link that had some good "answers" to some questions:

  5. I don't think Jack turned into smokey, I think smokey died with the man in black. In regards to the island under water, I think the island was real, every one died in their own due time, and after the (from what Chritian implied) long while that Hurley and Ben were #1 and #2 on the island it went under water and that everything that happened in the alternate/sideways world actually happened after the island was under water and everyone was dead; not at the same time. I think the hydrogen bomb worked because it allowed everyone to be together again at the end. It made it so that they were able to leave the island to go "back home" when they were ready to. Plus, I think it made it possible for Desmond to die. There are a lot of thoughts about this, but in the sake of time I'll just share that.
