Just For Fun

On the eve of the most exciting election I know I have ever seen, I thought it would be fun to forget about the ads, the speeches, the attacks, and the inevitable long lines tomorrow and make predictions of what will happen with the election. Of course, this is all just in good fun (no prize money, sorry). So, if you want to participate, simply post who you think will win, by how much, when they will announce the winner, or whatever else you want to predict!!

My prediction:

I think McCain will not be able to win both PA and FL- I think he will possibly win one, but not both, and because of that Obama will win. I will say somewhere around 295 votes for Obama and 175 for McCain (I don't know the exact total of votes there are-sorry). But, I don't think it will be announced until just after midnight CO time, so I think it will be a late night!!!

I will be working as an election judge tomorrow (I am hoping to stuff the ballot box- hee hee) and I will let you all know how that goes- it should be interesting! Long lines, for sure- but I bet there will be a lot of happy spirits! The weather is supposed to be nice, so that is good!

Happy Election Day!!!

  1. My psychic prediction is thus:

McCain win: Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Idaho, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alaska, South Carolina, Texas, South Dakota, West Virginia. Total: 132

McCain likely: Montana, Georgia, Arizona. Total: 28

Obama likely: Ohio, Nevada. Total: 25

Obama win: DC, Vermont, Rhode Island, Hawaii, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Maine, California, Delaware, New Jersey, Iowa, Washington, New Mexico, Oregon, Michigan, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Colorado, Virginia. Total: 286

Tossup: Missouri, North Carolina, Indiana, Florida, North Dakota. Total: 67
McCain is at 160 in his two piles, Obama is still at 311. Not including the toss-ups.
I’m going to give Missouri and Indiana to Obama, and North Carolina and Florida to McCain.
With of course, Obama winning it all. Yaa- hoo!!

  2. At this point, I am just happy that there will be no more campaign ads after tomorrow. I get so incredibly sick of those every election year. Ugh.

Also, we have migrated our blog to Blogspot. The address is: http://adamandlisahansen.blogspot.com

    Please update your links. KTHXBYE

  3. I think Obama will win both Florida and Pennsylvania and will end up winning over all. Woo Hoo!

  4. Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, the little hamlet that votes first in the nation and has gone Republican since 1972, posted an upset: Barack Obama 15, John McCain 6.

Also, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Washington Redskins, and as tradition goes, when the Redskins lose the incumbent party loses too.

Let’s keep it going! Go Obama!

  5. I'm going against the grain...McCain will win w/ a narrow margin. Reason I say is because the exit polls are showing that it's too close to call in FL, OH, and IN so far. PA shows that Obama is up by 15 in exit polls. The interesting thing is that historically a significantly larger amount of democrats participate in exit polls over republicans. So they're usually skewed toward democrats. Remember, 2004 exit polls showed Kerry beat Bush in FL pretty handily? (I don't remember the number though) So the fact that it's close in FL, leads me to believe that McCain will win. (I'm hoping anyway)...but if not, I'll be one of those w/ the bumper sticker stating "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain" car!

  7. well, darn it...I called it wrong. I guess deep down I kind of knew I was calling it wrong. Congrats to Obama and all his supporters for an overwhelming victory. Regardless of political views, it's a historic day for our country. Now, I'm going to be looking for my $2,500 savings in healthcare costs, my big tax break, and all the other promises Obama has made to me and other Americans!

  8. Curt- I have just one question- if health care costs do go down, if our economy is better in four years then now, if fewer people are unemployed, if Obama is able to unite this country-- will you, in four years, concede that he is a great man who is able to accomplish great things?
On my behalf, I promise that if our country is in worse shape then it is now in four years, I will consider voting Rep next time.

  9. Yes, of course I'll tip my hat to him. I tip my hat to Obama now. I think he's a great man, he'll be a fine president, and I know that he has the best intentions. I don't buy into the claims that he's a socialist or marxist, or any of that. I'm sure our economy will be fine in 4 years. I'm sure healthcare costs will be lower...but I'm also sure that wealth will not be spread around. I'm sure that the lower class will not be any better off under Obama than they are now. They'll still be broke, looking for handouts, on govt. assistance, and hating the wealthy. You can't spread wealth. You can only spread "money." You can't make people be wealthy and you can't mandate fairness. Although it is a valiant idea.

  10. I don't really think Obama wants to spread the wealth- if you look at what was actually said to Joe the Plumber, that was one line that was taken out of context. He just wants to roll back the Bush tax cuts to what they were with Clinton. McCain was also opposed to these tax cuts. But, anyway, it is exciting, and now we will see what happens:)

Thank you to everyone for your comments- I think Lula definitely won!!!! Sorry I don't have any prize money- maybe next time...
