Hair Cut

When we went furniture shopping a couple of weeks ago, this is what Audra looked like:

Isn't this the cutest picture? She absolutely LOVED this chair and sat on it forever- she LOVED putting her feet up on the little ottoman, it was one of the most adorable things I've seen her do. Anyway, you can see that her hair is getting into her face. She has needed a "bang" cut for a long time, but I didn't want to cut them because it is a symbol of the fact she is growing up, and I don't want that as a mother.

But, today while eating Sunday breakfast, I finally decided to do it (I have a sneaking suspicion this was probably more her third or fourth bang cut, because I am pretty sure my mother-in-law has cut her bangs a couple of times while baby-sitting, which is a REALLY good thing, because like I said, she has needed it, but it has been difficult for me). Here is the end result:

Obviously, her bangs are now very croocked, and I think they make her look like a boy, or at least that she has the world's cutest mullet because the back of her hair is still long. But, I have done my job as her mother, and she has now had her first "official" haircut!

  1. it looks good to me. i had the same feelings of not wanting to do it last month, when logan had his first haircut. but his hair was getting so long he was starting to look like a girl. i was going to post about it, but the haircut was so awful (he wouldn't sit still, obviously) that i decided to spare everyone from seeing it. it's hair, it'll grow back, right?

  2. Congratulations to Audra. I insisted on letting Hilde's hair grow out instead of doing bangs. We used clips and things to keep her hair out of her face, but it took a really long time to grow out enough to not be in the way all time. So I can see why you broke down and cut it!

  3. I would have loved to use clips, and she looks adorable in pony tails, but she has learned to pull them out and so it doesn't work. Oh, well...

  4. Very cute. Cutting hair is a difficult thing. It's hard for boys because you can't even wait until they turn 1. It seems you should at least get 1 year under your belt before you have to cut hair.

  5. I gave Nathan his second trim yesterday and accidently scraped his forehead with the scissors. He was NOT happy about it and now he has this gash on his forehead and I feel like a horrible mom...but I saved $20.
