Poor Audra!

Last night Audra was a little fussy- she would wake up every couple of hours, cry for about 30 seconds, and fall back asleep- nothing totally out of the ordinary, so I didn't think much about it. But, when Ben went to get her out of the crib this morning he yelled, "Christina- get in here NOW!" Audra had thrown up all over the crib and it was soooooooooo gross! Ben, of course, got off the hook because he had to get ready for work, but I gave her an emergency bath and cancelled all plans for the day. I have no idea what caused it- I am thinking a 24 hour bug, which is what she usually gets when she is sick. She would go through stages of lethargy where all she wanted was to be held, and then spurts of total energy where she would jump around and run through the house. So, hopefully she will feel better tomorrow- the poor thing! I felt so bad that she slept in her vomit...she hasn't puked at all today, though, so that's a good sign.

Luckily, Daddy was able to help her feel a little better when he got home from work (that's a partial smile on Aud's face):

She just looks so sad!!! Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

  1. Ugh! There is nothing worse than the stomach flu the poor thing. And what a mess to clean up! Hopefully she gets to feeling better soon and you guys don't catch it! The stomach flu is considered the modern day plague in our family.

  2. Luckily, she woke up happy as a lark this morning- so I really don't know what happened yesterday. But you are right- definitely NOT fun to clean up!

  3. Ewww, yuck, yuck, yuck! The things us moms do for our kids. It's a good thing they are cute! I'm glad she is feeling better.

  4. Joshua had a similar thing happen to him, except it wasn't due to the flu. He had RSV, which caused a lot of mucous build-up in his lungs, so he was coughing really hard a lot. On the first night that he was coughing so hard, he actually coughed hard enough to make himself gag and vomit, which woke me up over the baby monitor. When I went in there, he was lying awake in the puke. It was gross, and I felt so bad for the little guy. All he wanted to do was be held, too.

  5. Oh, poor Audra! Vomit in the bed is not fun - to clean up or for the child that had to sleep in it. All three children did that in the past couple of months and it is so gross. Luckily I found it in the middle of the night so I made Nathan wake up and we tag-teamed it. Still gross though and so sad. She looked better at gymnastics though! She looked happy to be resting with her daddy also. Cute moments!

  6. After I read this post, I had a dream that this happened to N. I woke up all freaked out - not surprising with my current preg-somnia. Good times. Sorry you had to clean that up. I would have had too weak a stomach for it right now.
